Hosting

I’m offering free SyntaxHighlighter hosting to everyone willing. If you don’t have a place to upload the files or just want to always have the latest version without the hassle of manual upgrade, this is for you! This site itself is using the hosted files as a “proof of concept”.

While the hosting is offered as a free service, I’m currently receiving approximately 22m requests a and 83GB in bandwidth every month which is costing me an additional $40 on Amazon S3. Where am I going with this? You guessed it – please donate to help me pay for this :)

Details

While the files themselves are now hosted on Amazon S3 due to the fact that DreamHost’s “unlimited” hosting isn’t so “unlimited”, there’s still a good URL to them. Each time there’s a new release, a new folder is created under http://alexgorbatchev.com/pub/sh/\[VERSION] and then http://alexgorbatchev.com/pub/sh/current/ is switched to point to the latest stable version.

This allows you to link to a specific that you need or to the most current, latest release. Currently, there are a number of available versions hosted:

The folder structure inside each 2.x and 3.x is equivalent to the download package. For example, in current there are the following files:

So what do you need to do?

Simple! Just create <script /> and <link /> tags on your pages and point them to the proper files, like so:

      	<link href="http://alexgorbatchev.com/pub/sh/current/styles/shThemeDefault.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
      	<script src="http://alexgorbatchev.com/pub/sh/current/scripts/shCore.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
      	<script src="http://alexgorbatchev.com/pub/sh/current/scripts/shAutoloader.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
